GENERAL DESCRIPTION

New Taipei City is a special municipality and the most populous city in Taiwan. Located in northern Taiwan, the city includes a substantial stretch of the island's northern coastline and surrounds the Taipei Basin, making it the second largest special municipality by area behind Kaohsiung.

DANSHUI GYM

淡水健身院 (Tamsui jianshenyuan)

GUANDU TEMPLE

Located about 15-minute walk from the Guandu MRT Station, the Guandu Temple was built in 1661. To the right of the temple is an 80-meter Buddha cave, at the entrance of which is a symbolic mortar that is supposedly able to suppress all evil.

HONGSHULIN HOME

The Taipei Metro Hongshulin station is located in the sea-side district of Tamsui in New Taipei.

HONGSHULIN MANGROVE ECOWALK

Located near the Hongshulin MRT station is the Hongshulin mangrove swamp, the largest area of homogenous mangrove swamp of a type called shuibizai. This type of mangrove, which is usually found in estuaries, has adapted to the salty waters that wash in with the tides. This fascinating environment is also full of riverside birds, such as egrets and snipes, and of over 30 kinds of crabs.

MAOKONG GONDOLA

The Maokong Gondola is a cable car transportation system in Taipei. Opened on 4 July 2007, the Maokong Gondola operates between the Taipei Zoo and Maokong.

TAMSUI OLD TOWN

Located along the riverfront in Tamsui (Danshui), the Tamsui Old Street is a boardwalk-like area full of shops, carnival games, restaurants, cafés, and xiaochi snacks. Vendors will generally start in the afternoon and stay open until the last MRT train at midnight.
